Baby t-shirts

I’m old fashioned, but I think the only way to feed a baby is to nurse.  Cows milk is for cows and human milk is for humans.  I do realize there are cases when you can nurse, needing to take certain meds, inability to produce milk and a lot more.  But, even dumber, is beginning a baby on fruit and then vegetables.  That’s like giving them candy and then expecting them to like vegetables - ain’t gonna happen.

Some aren’t able to “supply” enough milk and add baby cereal.  Most of the time you just need to nurse more, it’s supply and demand, but many do it to get the baby full enough to sleep longer.  My boys didn’t like cereal (see the baby t-shirts).  I started them on vegetables at 6 months (nursing only before) and my second son used to sing “uhmmm” when I gave him a spoon full of sweet potatoes.  Cereal went on the floor.  He did sleep through at 1 month.  My other two got the same treatment, but reacted very differently.

Time to play

I think kids should be kids, not computer IT wizards by the time they are 3.  Some of the mom’s I know have every educational toy every made, I guess hoping to have and Einstein or something,  Why can’t they just be little kids.  It’s like Christmas you buy a gazillion toys and the baby wants to play with the paper and bows. Babies are not toddlers, adolescents  or adults.  Look at the baby clothes they wear.  It’s where they’re at.

They don’t want to compute and you can save a ton of money, not to mention toy box room by buying just on toy they actually want to PLAY with.  They are learning all the time - even if we don’t shove it down their throats.  Additionally, how do we know what they need to learn.  They don’t have the motor skills to ride a tricycle until they are 3 - can you force that on them.  They don’t know how to breathe through their mouthes until after six months.  They learn what they need to learn when they need to learn it.

Kid Time

My kids are so lucky.  They got a step-father who loves them very much.  He never had kids, nor did he want them.  Actually, we found he just didn’t like dirty diapers and crying continually.  He came when my youngest was 5, and lo and behold, my new husband was also that same mental age - what a bonus.

Unlike their biological father, he got down on the ground and played cars with them, showed them how to build and repair their bicycles from the ground up.  How to build thing, how to repair things.  Basically, he gave them exactly what they needed one on one personal, full attention time from a parent.  We have a baby onzie, toddler tee and many other shirts that fit.

Winter

funny toddler teesIt’s almost October and that’s when I start freaking out.  I love summer and shorts and sun and swim suits.  I don’t like cold or coats or sweaters.  I’m trying to find a place to live that’s warm all the time but not humid.  If I never see another pine tree I’ll be just fine.

At least my kids always had funny toddler tees to try to brighten up the days.  I really shouldn’t complain, Denver isn’t as bad as many think.  We have over 300 days/year of sunshine and most of the snow is in the mountains, and people think that is the weather in Denver.  It’s not.  We do get big storms occasionally, but that’s not really the norm.

The Dreaded 2 am Feeding

funny baby t-shirtsDid you nurse?  If you did you had at least 1 or 30 2 am feedings.  I felt sorry for the men - I didn’t want to get up.  But getting up and holding my baby, just me and him in a blanket all warm and everything quiet was some of the best times of my life.  I have never felt more love for another human being that I did at that time.

Our funny baby t-shirt “Insomniac” fits, but I found a better one.  It’s up to you if it’s a party or not!

Affection

Basically, humans need human touch and affection even more than they do air.  Their are so many studies a bout babies from orphanages that were so full they rarely got held or shown any attention.  Many, many died and many became retarded.

I think that’s the basis of the needs of all of us.  Especially marriages.  It’s been over 10 years but I make sure I kiss my husband goodbye, kiss him hello and I tell my kids each day that I love them - and surprisingly, being teenage boys, they hug me and ell me they love me.

We carry a unique toddler t shirt that says “100% orgasmically grown”.  Of course, not your kids, but trying to get pregnant or not I believe that is how a marriage grows too.

MADD

I went to a MADD (Mothers against Drunk Drivers) and was fairly supprised by their attitude.  I thought they would be throw backs from prohibition, but they are very open minded.  They don’t care about the drinking - they just want us to stay off the street and out of the car if we do drink.

One thing I found really sad was the number of people who were permanently injured and maimed when some of them would have rather been killed outright.  Many are invalids or paralyzed.  I’m not a against alcohol, but I completely agree with them.  Additionally, the average cost of a DUI is over $10,000, cabs are much cheaper.

I like to see some MADD baby t shirts or toddler shirts advertising MADD and their philosophies.

Labor is the easy part

I remember begin scared to death about the upcoming birth process.  Everybody had their own horror story about hours, pain, delivery and on and on.  Each worse than the last.

I’ll be the first to tell you it’s not a walk in the part.  But I also know the only way out is through.  Plus, it is definitely not the hardest part.  The terrible twos, of which I am sure there are some funny toddler clothes talking about, are not the hardest part.  The hardest part begins after they are born and never ends even after they move out.  The good new - It is the most rewarding and often happy times of your life.

Sleeping

The scientist say that a full night sleep to a baby is 5 hours.  I have a hard time with 9 sometimes.  But they consider this sleeping through the night for newborns up to about 6 months.  In fact some babies don’t actually sleep through the night, in the normal sense, until they are 1 or two.

No wonder mothers walk around in a daze half the time.  I got my second little one a funny baby tee that said “Insomniac”.  The other two slept through by the first month.

When I had my first son my sister in law drove me nuts.  She was 25 and her biological clock was almost gone?  I had to tear my son away just to nurse him.  I like babies, but jeeze.

The good news is she finally got married and now has 3 boys of her own - she no longer grabs for other people’s babies.    We have funny baby t-shirts for everything.
