Reducing Baby Skin Irritation

gmarocks_tt_tanThere’s nothing quite as soft and sensitive as baby skin, and this can mean frequent occurrences of breakouts. After all, many of the products that we can place on our skin without any issue are particularly problematic for babies. This can include all kinds of lotions, soaps, and detergents. Problem items are often those that add a strong scent. The scent itself can sometimes bother your child, but the chemicals to create that scent can be equally problematic.

Even with toddler t shirts, you have to be careful that there aren’t any chemicals or additives in your detergent that can irritate your child’s skin. One common item that causes problems is the dryer sheet. While people often add these sheets without any thought, they have been shown to cause reactions in some infants and toddler. Outside of clothing, you’ll also want to use a gentle soap and shampoo for bath time.

unique baby clothesDo you just let your pediatrician to guide you on vaccinations?  Get on the inter net and look up vaccinations.  I made the mistake of allowing vaccinations as newborns, even fluoride drops!  If you really want a scare look up fluoride or read the back of you crest tube “if you child swallows this toothpaste the size of a PEA call POISION CONTROL!

I have stopped all vaccinations.  I have so many friends whose children have ended up blind, deaf, suffering from autism and many other horrible problems all due to vaccinations.  Today we have to protect ourselves and our children.  Look up the information for yourself - most of our Dr. & DDS. refuse to really study the effects these “drugs” have on our children and ourselves alike.

We don’t  buy the old blue & pink slothing for our babies, now we buy unique baby shirts and clothes.  We are also now in charge of your child’s health and well being - we are no longer blindly following Dr’s orders!

baby shirtsI am always amazed at how many people have babies and never touch them.  At least it seems that way to me.  They put them in a carrier, leave them their and even feed them in the carrier.

It was important to me to hold and touch my baby - they were always in a front pack or back pack.  And it’s impossible to nurse without holding you baby.

Mothers in Asian countries take it a huges step farther.  Many of them take them everyday to work, which is usually a farming operation.  They carry them in slings and if possible they have baby shirts, but no diaper.  It just kinda slides down their sides while they work.  That’s too far even for me!

Proper Care and Washing of Baby Clothes

baby-t-shirtsWhen you become a parent, there are a lot of things that you’ll have to learn how to do very quickly. You’ll need to learn to change diapers, prepare food, and wash baby clothes. This last issue can be particularly difficult for people, because children definitely have a knack for getting dirty. And you have to be able to remove all these stains with proper washing care.

The first you’ll want to consider with all your baby t-shirts is that the detergent should be mild and with little to no scent. Babies, after all, are very sensitive to these kinds of things, and the best way to ensure they don’t get irritated skin is with mild soaps. You should also wash all clothes before your child wears them. After all, they might still have chemicals from the manufacturer. Also, it’s generally best to use the cold cycle. Not only will this prevent some bacteria buildup, but it will also reduce the potential risk of shrinking.

baby clothesThey told me a great way to make moeny at home is e-commerce.  “It’ll only take 3-5 hours/week.”  Dream on!  I like to get away to 6 hrs/day.  But it has been a great experience and I love our line of baby clothes.

After being out of school and a stay a home mom for years it is so great to be learning again - and it’s really fun.  You can do anything you want (just about).  I felt really insecure about trying anything besides laundry and house cleaning, but one day I was cleaning the bathroom (all boys in this house, this includes my husband) and I realized there has to be more to life.  There is!  Now I know I can do anything.  Babies are great, but when you talk baby talk to people you see in the store you know it’s time for a major growth experience.

Jennifer Crusie says “if you can’t be a good example, be a horrible warning.”  Okay, Jennifer, how do they discover you are the warning and not the example?  All we can do is the best we can.  I have a lot, I mean a lot of junk.  The trouble is I didn’t realize it until after my kids were born. Now that they are older, what do you do?  I’m just doing the best I can.

If I had realized a lot of what is going on with me is heriditary I would have never had kids.  Babies need to be born with baby clothes mom-cleans-baby-clothesthat include instructions and directions.  My heritage in American Indian.  In my culture the young have the kids and the elders do most of the raising.  Today we shun our parents, move thousands of miles away, which, I believe, leaves our kids with the short end of the stick.  I’m not incompetent, I just haven’t live long enough or through the things I need to to give my kids what I could have with the help of my parents being there.

It used to be religion and politics that were tabu, now it’s abortion  Sadly I lived through the Columbine shootings.  I have a license plate that says “Respect Life” and a picture of a columbine flower.  The profits from this tag go to the memory of all the victums and their families.  I get stopped all the time by somone wanting to fight because they think the tag means I an not pro-choice.

Well I am not pro-choice but I’m not gonna get in a fight about it.  It’s frustrating to think it’s only a baby when it is old enough to wear a baby t-shirt.  I always get “well, what if you were raped?”  Guess what, I was raped by my father from the ripe old age of two until I was 10.  I don’t think I could have raised that baby, but I would have given birth to it and then given it away.  The hard one for me is if the mother’s health is in danger.  For me, that would be a tough call.  It would have to be based on each situation.

I was kinda pro-choice before I had kids.  After having one miscarriage and 3 healthy boys I , perrsonally, could not destroy that life.  I have many friends today that have had abortions years ago and are still hvaing nightmares.  Even without getting  rid of  fertility clinics there are millions of families that want to adopt.

baby accessoriesYou can buy all kinds of baby accessories, but the most important accessory is a set of parents.  Many have made mistakes, getting married too soon or to the wrong one an then had kids.  People look at me weird, but the first time I saw my husband I knew he was it, forever.  After 10 years I know in my heart we have been married in all of our past lives.

Nickleback just came out with a new CD called “Dark Horse” .  The words are amazing!  You gotta get it.  Chad Kroeger wrote a song just for my husband and me -  “Gotta Be Someone”.  Our verse is:

Tonight, Out On The Street,  Out in the moonlight,  and dammit t this fesls so right ,   it’s just like deja-vu,  Me standin’with you,  So I’ll be holdin’ my breath ,  Could this be the end,  Is this that moment when  I’ll find the one that I’ll spend forever with?

Baby

BabyAll you have to do is to have a baby to make you realize how precious everyday is.  My youngest is 15, and I knows it’s been said a million times - but truly it was just yesterday I was in labor.   I don’t have any horrible labor stories, all three of mine were born in 2 hours or less - I had worse stomach flu!  The really hard part of having kids is trying to be a parent when you have no real frame of reference to worth.

You may end up “becoming your mom”, but that’s a very small part.  My husband, who is my boys stepfather, taught me how important it is to be there with them - really with them.  He has been here since they were 6 or under.  He has always gotten right down on the ground with them.  He gave them QUALITY time.   He’s never had kids of his own, but I think my ex and especially me, should take a lesson from him.  He is who they run to when they are hurt or need to talk.  I used to get jealous and upset, but I know my boys have and are still getting the best parenting they could ever have.  It’s all respect and love.
